On October 2-3, the V International Economic Summit of Russia and countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) – KazanSummit 2013 – took place.
This is one of the leading economic events of the Russian Federation and OIC member countries. The purpose of the event is to facilitate the improvement and strengthening of economic and trade relations between the Russian Federation and OIC countries. The summit provides an opportunity to hold an open dialogue on trends in business, investment prospects and trading destinations.
KazanSummit is a unique platform, where managers of companies, institutional and private investors, as well as representatives of the state authorities of Russia and OIC countries gather to discuss key economic issues. Traditionally, the event is held in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.
This year, the welcome speech was delivered by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of Tatarstan. He expressed the opinion that KazanSummit has proven itself as a platform capable of bringing Russia closer to the countries of the Islamic world, thanked the partners for their attention to the forum and voiced the hope that the event would make it possible to establish new business contacts.
Over the two days of the summit, its participants included more than 600 representatives of business and politics from more than 40 countries of the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.

At the end of the forum, the Agency for Investment Development of the Republic of Tatarstan reached an agreement on the construction of commercial real estate in SMART City with Tatarstan Gulf Investment Company and Radiance Hospitality Group (Singapore) in the amounts of USD 760 mln and USD 180 mln, respectively. The Agency for Investment Development of the Republic of Tatarstan signed another agreement on investments in SMART City Kazan with TGT Oil&Gas Services for USD 11 mln, with total investments amounting to USD 951 mln.
