Technologies Employed by the Event Industry

31.03.2014

The second Russian Meetings Industry Forum took place on March 21-22, 2014. EGO Translating Company was one of the moderators of the forum session.

Technologies Employed by the Event Industry

The main objective of the event is to unite representatives of the MICE-industry of Russia and foreign countries, thereby creating a platform for a meaningful dialogue that facilitates solution of the industry’s pressing issues. The last forum was attended by 230 participants, including Rob Davidson, Professor of Greenwich University Business School, Dr. Jordi Robert-Ribes, Sergey Voronkov, Director of Expoforum International, Vladimir Korneyev, Director of the Russian National Committee of the World Petroleum Council, and many more.

On March 22, the "Technologies and Trends" session was held, the moderator of which was Egor Alimov, Director of the Interpretation Centre, EGO Translating Company. Meeting participants discussed the introduction of new process-automation IT into the process of event organisation and hosting: visitor registration, invoicing, no-contact access-and-control systems, etc.

Egor Alimov on the concluding event and technological development of the industry: "In this age of technological progress, more and more advancements are emerging every year that have the capacity to significantly facilitate the organisation process. Technological development trends have already conquered even the translation market. For example, last year, our company actively developed an online translation service (webinar translation).

I think that the development of automation systems in the event-creation process will help to both elevate them to a new level of higher quality from the point of view of organisation itself and make it possible for event participants to feel the positive impact of new technologies on the convenience of choice, registration and attendance. This, in its turn, will make it possible for event organisers to hold them with better output – both financially and technologically."

Many leading Russian and foreign companies presented their advancements during the session. For instance, representatives of CJSC MITtech discussed their development – "Business Event Management System" – designed for events of any level and scale. ExpoPromo Group Ltd presented an online service for the registration and sale of electronic event tickets – "TicketForEvent." The unique feature of this resource involves its setup ability to suit specific events and its flexible user interface.

Meeting participants also discussed the most relevant issues for all market players – the introduction of a system for specific events, as well as compatibility with software, accounting systems, and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems.
